Transport Coordinator


About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all transport and logistics operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods. This role manages fleet performance, driver compliance, scheduling, customer delivery standards, and continuous improvement across transport operations.

Hours: Monday – Friday, Full Time Permanent

Reporting: Operations Manager - SA

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in dispatch/logistics and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficient in routing, dispatch, and transportation management software (TMS).
  • Knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR).
  • Efficiency in managing multiple shipments and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills for negotiating with vendors and coordinating drivers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and manage daily transport operations to meet delivery schedules.
  • Oversee maintenance schedules, defect reporting, and availability of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport legislation and conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments of fleet and driver performance.
  • Liaise with internal departments and customers regarding delivery updates, issues, and service improvements.
  • Manage transport budgets, cost control, fuel usage, and contractor expenses.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise drivers, dispatch staff, and transport coordinators.
  • Optimise fleet utilisation, routing, and scheduling to reduce costs and improve service levels.
